This is a luxury but provides a feeling of safety -"hey love look here - - - - it's not going to blow up". Whatever you do, don't think about not using a safety valve! You can use this where the whistle screws in or another proper location. Don't think about fitting this to a mobile engine ...... it would look crazy. But for the stationary engine with the place already there for fitting, then it does add to a sense of understanding of what's going on inside the boiler. There is always the possibility of drilling your own hole in the top of the boiler and then soldering in a repair boss (see this on another of our listings). This is quite technical and if you don't know what you are doing you will render your engine unusable. It really does add something to your model steam experience.
