This safety valve is a very safe method of venting steam from a Mamod Stationary Engine boiler. It adds a greater sense of operator control and enhances the overall appearance of a Mamod steam engine. A new form speed control is available as more or less steam is vented in accordance with the weight position on the bar. The objective is pure enjoyment and for some younger enthusiasts, an educational dimension showing a relationship between steam pressure in the boiler and flywheel speed. The more that is vented, the slower the engine runs. WARNING: Never place an additional or an alternative weight on the bar as this would force steam to vent elsewhere on the engine with unpredictable and potentially dangerous results causing steam burns.
