DIMENSIONS: 4mm x 9.5mm long. 10 rivets per pack.
These closed end blind copper rivets can be used on any boiler work. However, normally for Mamod projects the 3mm Copper Rivets are the right ones to use which you will find in our listings.
So why do we list these? Well, some of you engineers out there are making a non-standard engine construction so perhaps you will need a longer rivet or two. But the majority will want to do a bit of a "bodge" job on the Water Filler Plug hole at the back of the boiler!
That's OK, I won't tell anyone. This feat of engineering is preferable when the thread in the hole is knackered and you cannot get the plug to screw in tightly enough to hold the steam pressure.
You see, the alternative to this shortcut is to replace the Boss by unsoldering the end of the boiler and then unsoldering the Boss and fitting a new Repair Boss and then resoldering the boiler together again. Now you can see why a "bodge" looks so atttractive for the price of a rivet!
You can decide to be either pragmatic or authentic........... whichever you choose, your engine will be up and running upon completion.
There is always the little issue of "how much water have I put in so far?". That's an easy one too, just buy one of our Water Filler Syringes and then you can see how much has gone in. Good or what!
