Std 1/4 BSF x26 TPI Thread whistle assembly. Fits all Mamod engines designed for whstles.

A beautiful piece of engineering. We like this whistle. A great price and a really nice assembly.
Whistles of this style have been successfully fitted to Mamod's engines for many years.
There is just one thing to be aware of - they do get hot and it is best to use a cloth for steam protection when operating.

Tip to save you a lot of heartache:
Oil the whistle thread every so often to avoid it getting fused in place over the years. What happens then is that any excess twisting force will break the collar/boiler seal. Big problem!

Scarey Warning!

If that should happen, you will need to have, or develop, skills of riveting, soldering and be willing to take a hacksaw to your whistle. So keep the thread lubricated and not left unattended just because it works ok.

All of this is important when you realise that your whistle will have steam passing through it at raised pressure for a good number of years to come. Some whistles are rarely considered for maintenance until they stop making the intended sound.

There are three possible reasons for a "no sound" whistle.

1. Dirt or imperfections such as lime scale in the water can restrict the steam flow.
2. The rubber washer can become flattened or disintegrating over a long period thus losing steam.
3. The spring can become tarnished over time losing its tension causing it to stick closed or slightly open.

So look after it and it will serve you well for decades.
