What happens here is, you clip the end of the long flexible cable neatly over the steering wheel and as your engine travels around your estate you keep it from bashing into things by steering it properly.  Wives love these as they don't think much of steam engines crashing over their flower bed! Much more fun than keeping on stooping down to re-steer the thing every few seconds.
